Size of band: Variable- but usually between 20 and 25 players and singers.
Base: Matthew Flinders Girls Secondary College Geelong - a government school for girls.
Bookings: Available for events, functions, festivals.

Repertoire

Motown/Soul - because we love it!
Artists that we look to inspiration include Martha and The Vandellas ("Heatwave", "Dancing in the Streets") Smoky Robinson and The Miracles ("You Really Got a Hold on Me", "Tracks of my Tears"), Mary Wells ("My Guy"), Marvin Gaye ("I heard it through the Grapevine" "What' Goin' On), The Temptations ("Nowhere to Run", "Get Ready") and The Four Tops ("Baby, I need your loving")The Supremes ("You keep me hanging on", "You can't Hurry Love").

It is important to play this music because we love it, and because it is so often used with little respect in advertising and popular culture. The Sweethearts play Motown with a fresh youthful approach and revitalise the power and richness of the sounds and emotion that the original performances had.

Over the last few years we have had a wonderful relationship with original Motown label producer and arranger Gil Askey, who is thrilled to once again hear the legendary sounds re-invented being produced again.  His knowledge and savvy keeps us both authentic and open to fresh approaches.
